![]() I had intended to use a pair of Corona CS-239MG slim servos for the ailerons but the rib spacing is too small so I will us a couple of Corona DS-939s which I have in the drawer. The wire should be longer lasting, look a bit more realistic but yet not put a lot of strain on the wing rigging. I'd fix the spring centres in place and run the control line wire from the springs to the struts with split-pins on the ends. If he is not enthused then I'll put some lettering on it and try to find a new owner.Īs regards the flying wires, I have some stranded control-line wire and I wondered about concealing two weak coil springs in the fuselage and two under the top wing. The idea is to demo fly the plane to its previous owner, Tony, and if he finds his interest in R/C modelling rekindled then he can finish it with his own choice of lettering etc. Initially I won't add any stickers or reg numbers. Probably with thin 'shirring' elastic thread bound to more split-pins, unless someone comes up with a better / simpler way. I haven't decided yet how to simulate the flying wires. Hopefully that will keep the wing surfaces parallel. ![]() I intend to make the rear struts next, fit fronts and rears in place and then make the intermediates in place. I have about a square foot of of Oratex left, I hope I don't have need of it in future.įor the struts I am using balsa trailing edge with a 'split-pin' inserted, thread bound & glued in place. Luckily I cover the bottom surfaces first and I had enough Solartex to do the undersides. As usual I made a c*ck-up of the covering, fortunately retrievable, I confused the port and starboard ailerons and covered the top surfaces with Solartex instead of Oratex. If the struts are built equally then that should correct most of the discrepancy, (I'm going to live with it anyway). It's only a little over half an inch at the interplane strut position so I'm going to live with it and correct it by using same size port and starboard struts. Having got everything fitted together for the first time I found a very slight discrepancy in the cabane structure. ![]() TreeDiver :- I managed to get the bottom wing covered today and fettled the wing / fuselage fit.
